The sous chef oversees all day to day kitchen operations and outside caterings. The sous chef helps head chef supervise, lead and motivate the staff of the kitchen; participating in the training and development of staff. The sous chef may also participate in menu developments, recipe creations, costing and ingredient purchase specifications. The sous chef helps monitor food budget for the department and is responsible for food ordering, storing, preparation, production, cooking and service to the restaurant. The sous chef helps manage the kitchen staff in compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining highest professional food quality and sanitation standards at all times.
